In yesterday’s COVID-19 press briefing, Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, announced a ban on gatherings of more than six people in both public and private settings from Monday 14th September. The announcement comes after a sharp rise in coronavirus cases and growing concerns of a ‘second wave’.

Covid 19 update

Whilst gatherings of 30 people were previously permitted, from Monday 14th, it will be a finable offense for you to gather with more than 5 other people, from your household or separate households. Exceptions apply if there are more than 6 people in your household, or your bubble is larger for “work or educational purposes” eg. students in school or workers at the office. Weddings, funerals and sports team that are “covid-secure” will be allowed to go ahead with a capacity of 30 people. The restriction only applies to those living in England, with Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland all setting their own coronavirus guidelines.

In the same briefing, Johnson further added that the Government will be introducing “covid-secure marshals” in towns and cities to support the police efforts:

“We will boost the enforcement capacity of local authorities by introducing covid-secure marshals to help ensure social distancing in town and city centres and by setting up a register of environmental health officers that local authorities can draw upon for support.” Boris Johnson, Prime Minister.

Our covid-secure Social Distancing Marshals are here to help Britain beat coronavirus

At Churchill Security, we understand that we all have our part to play in the fight against coronavirus. To do our bit, we’ve been continuously training our SIA-licenced officers as Social Distancing Marshals to support UK businesses and organisations with their social distancing enforcement.

With official guidelines, coronavirus policy and enforcement laws constantly changing, keeping up to date and understanding how and when guidelines need to be implemented and administered can be a minefield for business owners and local authorities alike. That’s why we’re continually training our Social Distancing Marshals on how to apply the latest COVID-19 measures safely and efficiently, including how to tackle conflict and confrontation in an appropriate and effective manner.

All our Social Distancing Marshalls and security officers have been formally trained and are kept up to date on covid-secure best practice to keep themselves safe and to minimise any further transmission of COVID-19. By utilising trained Social Distancing Marshals, businesses and public organisations can mitigate responsibility for systems, policies and procedures that they may not be qualified to implement yet could be liable for, freeing up vital time and resources so they can get on with their core duties.

Churchill Security is a recognised security provider with a wealth of experience in both the public and private sector. All our officers are SIA-qualified and are trained to liaise with the police and local authorities, making them the ideal candidate for your community’s covid-secure marshals.
