It’s the awards everybody is talking about… no, not the Oscars, it’s Churchill’s Circle of Excellence awards! 


Churchill Security have always recognised and rewarded great service The Circle of Excellence Awards takes this to a whole new level.

Andy Farley, Operations Director said “This structured awards programme has been long overdue at Churchill and while we have always recognised and rewarded great service The Circle of Excellence Awards takes this to a whole new level. It is our intention via this awards process to really show our appreciation for all of our employees that provide an outstanding level of service to our customers throughout the UK, 365 days a year. We are all very proud of all of those that were nominated and in particular our superb winners” 


The Circle of Excellence awards take place every quarter here at Churchill, with 4 awards up for grabs:

Demonstration of Virtues  

This award recognises the colleague who most embodies our Churchill DNA by being a continuous advocate for one or all of our Virtues. They put our people first, show humility and demonstrate a passion for their work.  

 Outstanding Act 

This award celebrates our colleagues who have been in an unusual and/or difficult situation, which pushed their skills and initiative, as well as their ability to act quickly and appropriately. 

 Service Excellence 

This award recognises outstanding service delivered not only to our internal and external stakeholders, but to all our colleagues and customers.  

 Service Partner Award  

This award celebrates our Service Partner colleagues who continuously deliver exceptional service to our customers and represent Churchill Security professionally at all times.  


For Q2, we’ve seen the nominations flood in from both colleagues and clients to recognise our outstanding employees across every part of the company, whether that’s our security officers on the ground, cleaners on the frontline or office teams working hard behind the scenes- it’s really been a tough one to call.  


Nevertheless, the results are in. Drum roll please… 


Category 1 – Demonstration of Virtues 

Winner – John Gregory, Deputy Regional Business Manager North 

 John received 4 nominations in this quarter, with three out of four nominations from Churchill clients. John has really demonstrated his passion for the business by the way he sought to develop additional revenue opportunities with existing and new clients. John is always very inclusive and supportive of all departments, he is simply Churchill through and through and always does what is right for both the business, our employees and the clients.  

John Melling, Sales Director said “John’s support of all areas of the business has always been exemplary but recently the support he has given my sales team has been nothing short of amazing, thoroughly well-deserved award”. 


Category 2 – Outstanding Act 

Winner – Zia Rehman at Acushnet Europe 

 Zia was nominated for his actions following a serious flood at Acushnet Europe. Overnight and well into the morning, Zia was cleaning up flood water to ensure it didn’t spread to the reception area, potentially saving the client thousands of pounds in damages. This was not a pleasant clean up by any means and took many hours, but Zia persevered to ensure that the reception area was not damaged. 

Richard Welch, Deputy Regional Business Manager South commented “Zia always goes above and beyond for Churchill Security and the client and this award is no real surprise to any of us”. 


Category 3 – Service Excellence 

Winner – Jamie Maginness, Regional Business Manager South 

 Jamie also received four nominations in this category, three of which were directly from clients who all took the time to nominate Jamie for the exceptional levels of service he provides. Relationships are critical within our industry and it is clear that Jamie is leading the way in this respect. His efforts have been rewarded with a two-year extension to one of Jamie’s larger contracts. 

Luke Toker, National Operations Manager said “Jamie’s commitment to his clients and officers is beyond question and this is certainly reflected in the volume and quality of the nominations he received” 


Category 4 – Service Partner Award 

Winner – Iqbal Mohamed, Burmeister Ellesmere Port  

 For this award, the glowing nomination speaks for itself; “Iqbal is the first contact when anyone comes to the site. His friendly, firm professional manner means everyone coming to the site has a great first impression. He is very particular with his paperwork, making sure all parcel deliveries are logged and delivered to the intended person or company. He juggles numerous forms of communication with different contractors i.e. mobile phones and radios but embraces this no problem. On top of this, he always has a smiling face no matter what pressure he’s under. A great asset to the security team”. Eddie McEwan – Health and Safety Advisor 


All four winners will now go forward to be considered for the year end Annual Awards in August. 

Congratulations to all our winners, and a big thanks to everyone that nominated their colleagues. It’s wonderful to see the supportive and friendly atmosphere of the company on full display. It’s also inspiring to read about all the great work and effort each of our nominees puts into their role at the company.
